My artwork is an attempt to better visualize, understand
and pay tribute to the fascinating world of aviation.
I often create illustrations of military aircraft from WWII to
the present day. Great importance is placed on accuracy, as I feel
it is the artist's duty to research and portray a subject faithfully.
This often involves hours of research and preparation before a project
is even started.
In the early days, my main illustration tools were pencils and
paint. However those traditional mediums have long since given way
to computers and pixels. The results I am able to achieve with digital
tools far surpass anything I was able to create on paper or canvas.
Ever since I first started painting on an early Mac, or working
in 3d on an Amiga, I've been hooked. Over the years, I have continued
to hone my skills in an effort to create images that achieve a level
of realism, but also convey emotion and artistic style.
My close association with Stormbirds.com,
and the Me 262 Project has provided me with with insight into the
aircraft and aviators of the Second World War. One of my main outlets
for new illustrations is the monthly Stormbirds Calendar. This is
a computer desktop calendar featuring a Luftwaffe subjects. I have
created new images for the Stormbirds Calendar for many years and
many of the illustrations are available as limited edition prints
on the Stormbirds
Annex on-line shop.
